Kaprun, part of the Zell am See-Kaprun Ski area is one of the most exciting areas for skiing in Europe, offering a wide variety of terrain to suit visitors of all ability levels.
Kaprun has smaller crowds and a more peaceful atmosphere unlike other resorts in the region, even though the size of Kaprun may seem overwhelming, it is easy to explore with an excellent transport system.
Kaprun is a beginners paradise with dedicated nursery slopes behind the village centre.
The Maiskogel and Kitzsteinhorn Glacier are picked with a mix of intermediate slopes, lots of them wide and open.
There's not a huge amount for advanced skiers, but what's there spans wide-open pistes and the superb powder of the glacier bowl. There are seven black runs, and Zell am See's Schmittenhöhe Mountain has some particularly exhilarating pistes, just a ski bus ride away.
The town has plenty of hotels, restaurants, a few lively bars and new Tauern Spa centre - there's even a spa just for kids!
For something a little livelier, Cabrio and Crazy Daisy both provide amazing nightlife and music, allowing visitors to let their hair down and unwind in a majestic winter environment.
