Zell am See has a great reputation for its alpine charm with a modern skiing twist. It’s location near the picturesque local Lake Zell which in the height of winter it freezes over enabling you to walk from one side to the other. The historic architecture makes it a draw for non-skiers too, offering sensational views.
Skiing in Zell am See is perfect for beginners, with a local ski school and with manageable pistes of the Areitalm above Schuttdorf, you will be hitting the slopes in no time!
Intermediates will enjoy the wide open red runs on the Sonnenalm; alternatively take the Hirschkogel lift over to the Areit side and enjoy the long Schüttabfahrt down to Schüttdorf.
Advanced skiers can test themselves with a range of challenging runs on the Schmittenhöhe with 3 black/red runs through the trees.
There is a wide selection of apres ski across Zell am See, including some excellent bars and restaurants.
