Highly recommended, idyllic, high-quality modern log cabins, dotted around the woods in a variety of scenic locations.
Staying in a cosy, warm, well-equipped modern log cabin is for many the iconic dream of what a perfect Lapland holiday should be.
A log cabin gives you the best opportunity of seeing the Northern Lights. Just step outside for the best viewing opportunities, and remember that the village turns off all street lights after 10pm thereby minimising any light pollution for optimal aurora sightings.
Cabins are located 2-10 minutes' walk (250-900m) to the nearest ski bus stop and from one of either the Äkäs Hotel or Kaltio Hotel. There is a large well-stocked supermarket and a choice of cafés, bars and restaurants for those who prefer to eat out. Excellent cross-country skiing starts from the door.

Ylläs combines all the ingredients necessary for a perfect Lapland experience. Guests return year after year to enjoy its stunning unspoiled natural scenery, Finland’s longest ski slopes, an excellent network of cross-country trails and wide choice of accommodation, including the best selection of idyllic high-quality log cabins.
It offers a wide choice of activities and safaris, including exhilarating reindeer, husky and snowmobile safaris. The skies here are especially clear, ideal for witnessing the magical Northern Lights.
The resort comprises two Lappish villages set 15 minutes apart connected by a resort shuttle bus: Äkäslompolo where Äkäs Hotel and all our cabins are located, and Ylläsjärvi where the Ylläs Saaga Spa Hotel enjoys a panoramic slopeside position.
After a leisurely start to the day over your favourite breakfast you are ready to head out for your chosen daily activity. Perhaps you will take advantage of the special rental prices for snowshoes and cross-country skis to take you out into the amazing winter wonderland scenery.
Go shopping like a local using a rented kick-sled to bring your groceries back from the village’s well-stocked large supermarket.
